Frequently Asked Questions

PRESCRIPTIONS

What is a replacement contact lens?
A replacement contact lens is a contact lens you are wearing successfully that has been prescribed to you by a Kaiser Permanente Optometrist on a valid unexpired prescription.

How do you know if my prescription is valid?
Every prescription has an expiration date. If today's date is before the expiration date, then your contact lens prescription can be refilled.

Is a contact lens prescription different from my eyeglass prescription?
Yes. Based on the measurements taken by the Optometrist during your contact lens exam, the prescription will include the parameters of the lens selected (diameter, base curve) as well as the brand and lens type and modality (daily, bi-monthly or monthly).

POLICIES

Can I place an order for contact lenses for a new prescription?
No. The website is for re-ordering contact lenses only. If you have a new prescription, we ask that you place the first order at our Vision Essential Optical Centers to ensure you have the correct lens recommended by your doctor.

Your contact lens prescription must not be expired. If your prescription is expired, you will need to obtain a new eye exam and fill the first order of the new prescription at the Vision Essentials clinic where you received your eye exam. All subsequent refill orders can be placed through the on line site.
