Below are answers to frequently asked questions about Eye Care products and services. If you need information about your health plan optical benefits, please call us at 1-888-586-2020.

How do Kaiser Permanente Optical Center prices compare to other stores?

Our frames and lenses are competitively priced, and we have a huge selection of the latest styles. At Kaiser Permanente Optical Centers, we believe in giving our members the highest quality and workmanship at a competitive price. We guarantee the frame you choose is at the lowest possible cost. *If you find a better price for one of our regularly stocked frames, we'll match it. And we'll give you $1 extra. This guarantee only applies to regularly stocked frames that are already in our inventory and available for immediate delivery. We offer a complete adult eyewear package that includes:

  • Selected group of quality frames
  • Single-vision plastic lenses
  • Scratch-resistant protection
  • Eyeglass case
  • Eyeglass adjustments

Please see a store associate for the prescription range on this package. Straight-top bifocals are an additional $30. No other discounts apply.

*Excludes Internet offers

How long will it take to get my glasses?

Our average turnaround time is five business days. Each individual's prescription is special. Every prescription has to be precisely custom-made, and certain types of specialized lenses take longer than others. Members can choose from a wide range of optical products, including different lens materials to fulfill individual needs.

Do you offer a 30-day money-back guarantee?

Yes. We want you to be completely satisfied with your prescription eyeglasses, so you may exchange or return them for a complete refund within 30 days from the date of original delivery.

Do you offer discounts or sales?

Yes! We have Trunk shows, which are special one-day events highlighting exciting new designer frame collections. This is a great opportunity to see the latest in frame fashions! Click on the Regional Events tab to see the schedule of upcoming shows. Please contact the location directly to find out which designers will be featured at the show.

Our Contact Lens Extended Purchase Agreement and Eyeglass Extended Purchase Agreement offer discounts on additional eyewear and other products. We offer a complete adult eyewear package for $99.00. We also offer a children's eyewear package for $129.00. Our children's package includes single-vision polycarbonate lenses (the safest on the market and recommended for children). Lenses are edge polished and UV coated.

Do you offer a warranty on your eyeglasses?

When you purchase your eyewear, you may want to consider our new Eyeglass Extended Purchase Agreement . This $20.00 agreement provides:

  • Two years of coverage
  • 50 percent off frames and lenses to replace damaged eyewear
  • 25 percent off additional complete pairs of prescription eyewear (Frames and lenses purchased together. Excludes eyewear packages, lens packages, and any special promotions.)
  • 25 percent off nonprescription sunglasses

For additional information about our special discounts, Eyeglass Extended Purchase Agreement, or to learn about our frame price guarantee for Kaiser Permanente members in Northern California, please contact an Optical Center associate for details.

What if my prescription changes shortly after I get my new prescription and eyeglasses?

Doctor-approved prescription changes can be made at no charge within 90 days from the date of delivery.

How do I get a copy of my glasses or contact lens prescription?

Only a Kaiser Permanente Optometrist can release your prescription to you. Contact the Eye Service Department at the facility where you had your eye exam to request a copy.

How are contact lens services priced?

The following information will help you better understand the fitting process for these services. At your Contact Lens fitting appointment, an evaluation will be made to determine the appropriate starter contact lenses. It may take several lenses and several weeks of wearing these lenses to determine which contact lenses are best for your particular visual and lifestyle needs. Once your prescription has been finalized, your optometrist will write you a contact lens prescription. Fitting fees vary according to the type of contact lenses you need.

Replacement Lenses at Competitive Prices

Buying our Contact Lens Extended Purchase Agreement allows you to purchase your replacement lenses at a reduced cost. Since current prescription glasses and sun protection are essential for contact lens wearers, this agreement also includes discounts of 25% off a complete pair of prescription eyewear (excludes eyewear packages), 25% off non-prescription sunglasses and 10% off all solutions purchased in our Optical Service department.

What are the conditions for ordering refills online or by phone through the Refill Center?

To refill your contact lenses by phone or online, you must have a current contact lens prescription at a Kaiser Permanente Optical Center. If you have a new contact lens prescription or are transferring your prescription, you’ll need to visit one of our Optical Centers to have your first order filled. If you have no refills left on your current prescription, you’ll need an eye examination to receive anew prescription.

How can I reorder my Kaiser Permanente contact lenses?

You can either call our Contact Lens Refill Center at 1-888-586-2020, or order online. Our Contact Lens Refill Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

What is the shipping cost for contact lenses?

Orders placed online are shipped free of charge. Orders placed through the Contact Lens Refill Center that are for $75.00 or more are shipped free of charge. Shipping is $5.95 if your order is less than $75.00.

How do I pay for lenses ordered online or through the Contact Lens Refill Center?

We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

What does my Kaiser Permanente benefit cover

Your plan covers a complete and thorough eye exam. Your employer may have purchased a supplemental optical benefit. For your coverage information, contact Member Services at 1-800-464-4000.

I have another vision plan. Can I still shop at a Kaiser Permanente Optical Center?

Yes, Kaiser Permanente members with optical coverage through a different insurance carrier may be able to be reimbursed by their carrier for the amount of their benefit when purchasing glasses or contact lens at our Optical Centers. Call or visit one of our locations and ask a store associate for more details.

Stop by one of our Optical Centers. You will find a great selection of eyewear that is competitively priced. No appointment needed.
